Rocky Mount is in the eastern section of North Carolina's heartland region, located in both Nash and Edgecombe Counties along the banks of the Tar River, Rocky Mount is the principle city in our two-county MSA and the 15th largest City in North Carolina, with a total population of 145,637. Less than 1 hour from the State Capital, 2-1/2 hours from the Atlantic Ocean and 4-1/2 hours from the Mountains in the western part of the state, Rocky Mount boasts a central location on the North-South I-95 and East-West U.S. 64 corridors.
